So I walk in the bar
and cross to the stage
and the owner asks
"What ya gonna play?"

I gaze into the lights
and I say
"I'm gonna play to my strengths."

I lay the guitar down
on the floor
and ride away into the night

When the sun comes up
in the light of day
I think about things
About myself
and listen to the words of a song

That night
I walk to the stage
Pick up my case and play

And from out of the lights
I hear someone say
"Keep playing son.
To get to tomorrow
you fight for today."
