The Christmas Heart

The Christmas heart is fragile, but has not shattered
It sees the joy that could be, amid the chaos that is
Believes in miracles in a stark and harsh reality
And holds love in the highest regard, even when hate rules the day
It sparks in the tiniest heart and the largest
It speaks to love and goodwill
It is hope in the darkest night
And rain in the driest desert
It is the smile we give a stranger
The hand extended in friendship
The smallest act of kindness
That requests no recognition
Acceptance of differences
Wonder at similarities
And the resolute certainty
There could be
Peace on Earth

I especially liked – It sees
I especially liked – It sees the joy that could be, amid the chaos that is
A troubled world, but even
'the smile we give a stranger The hand extended in friendship The smallest act of kindness That requests no recognition', is not wasted –
never give up on doing what we can of peace, however small, with faith that God can sort out the big things, in time! Rhiannon

Hi Penny,
Hi Penny,
love this poem of hope. Even though it's hard to keep the soul on the straight and narrow in difficult times, we just need to trust that we'll come out the other side of the darkness and be happy once again.
One to come back to and read again.
Jenny.
