A child prays
P K Routray
My father and mother,
superiors and teacher,
always tell me to pray
at dawn and dusk, following their way.
As to whom I should pray and for what I should pray,
" To you the God for my good" only, they say.
My toy is missing, my doll is broken,
my frock is torn and my chocolates are stolen,
to you shall I pray for them?
But for these, none but myself only I have to blame.
As all are caused or arise because of me
while sitting in quiet for such a prayer thus I clearly see.
As everybody is praying for himself or herself to you, the God,
Hey poor God! On your shoulder you must have very heavy and pressing load.
My heart is awed and ached because of your load and I take pity on you
Hence I pray you My Lord, to share your load, please give me a few.
I promise “I shall not be fickle and naughty in carrying out your entrusted job
as because you are always good and helpful to all, to you I always owe and love”.
