Not to Desire but to Aspire
P K Routray
“Nip in the bud, your desire,
sacrifice your wants in fire,
to get peace and happiness in life.”
Thus the religious scriptures prescribe.
The thoughts come naturally to every mind
without ambition man would fall behind.
To this contradiction there is a possible solution,
here it is submitted for experts’ serutiny and opinion.
The English language is fabulously affluent
to this scriptural stipulation, it has word to supplement
“ For earthly materials one must annihilate one’s desire
but to win His grace by nobler deeds one must aspire,
thus peace and happiness can be achieved in life
which is in agreement with what the sriptures prescribe.”
