I'm a big fan of Doctor Who.
I'm talking about the classic series, not the new.
The Doctor defeated the Daleks, the Zygons and the Cybermen.
He also defeated the Master, the Rani, the Quarks and Zoden.
The first episode was aired over fifty years ago in November of 1963.
Tom Baker was my favorite Doctor, my 2nd favorite was Jon Pertwee.

I agree with you so much.
I'm of the Peter Davison generation (Also brilliant in A Very Peculiar/Polish Practice) but I too feel that the old Dr Who's were the best. Since Russell T Davis turned it into a touchy-feely soap opera (just as they ruined Star Trek in the same way) ; turned it into a series about emotions rather than ideas, I've found it has become dull and boring and these days, when I hear the Dr Who theme, I just switch over.
And the worst part of it, I feel, is that it was all done for money. They just wanted to reach a wider audience; bring in the new wealthy, female consumer demographic (something they've done with James Bond too by bringing in the Himbo Daniel Craig and making M into Judi Dench. Daniel Craig has no libido whatsoever, infact he seems to be more oedipally interested in Judi Dench than in the Bond girls) and whenever money touches something that is pure it just turns it to dross.
Some might say, Dr Who just grew up but perhaps, like Peter Pan, it was never meant to grow up; perhaps growing up destroyed some of those things that were good about it.
