Thoughts struggle,
buzz, boggle –
intensive scientific gaze
can’t grasp or fully know,
the detail of activity
in minute,
infinitesimal maze,
as signals speed
to help us feed,
and think, and grow:
    
impossible to scan
the web-like interactions
of chemical reactions
atomic rearrangings
in the brain of man –
or woman –
regulated and directing
all the hustle and bustle
in this cytoplasmic labyrinth –
membranes microscopic
separate compartments,
pathways, and departments –    

a higher mind can view, devise
device so awesome that defies
complete investigation of itself.

I like this , the words flow so well together, unlike my brain when it tries to come up with ideas for stories!

They are a mystery.  The tempo gives a sense of the speed of neurons and all of that other odd stuff in our heads.

Hi Rhiannon

I too liked the meter and word useage to make it seem brain-like.

My son, who I was visiting, had just had a brain scan. He has bipolar and a form of epilepsy, as well as aspergers, so his brain is quite a mystery to most people. He's brilliant and yet childlike.

Hi, Jean, you must be having quite a morning of 'catching up'! My youngest son has aspregers too, though he is coping much better with it, and has learnt to fix his mind on lots of things, like how much space he needs to move about, organisation (still 'drops balls' a lot, and rushes around at the last moment), other person's viewpoints etc. His new wife is a lot of fun, but is also a good organiser, so I think she's pulled him up in that a bit, and is learning to watch out for him somewhat, he finds it difficult not to just think of one thing to the exclusion of all other things. Your son has much to contend with. How often billiance goes with immaturity and a winsome straitghtforwardness. I know I was aware of that when our David was young - on 'special needs' and 'very able' lists in school'!
Anyway, as one who has studied biochemistry, it's on that level that I get amazed at the impossible to figure out organisation of our brains! Rhiannon

You have such a capacity to cope with life's  problems and always show great compassion as shown by many of your comments .  I agree with you the brain is unfathomable and I know with your religious conviction that you see the hand of God at work. Another one I have enjoyed so much that I've read it several times to understand it as my brain is fathomable.

I know you too show much compassion in your writings. God himself has so much greater compassion and mercy than I can ever copy, and I would never cope at all without his help. Rhiannnon
