Quivering bunch of leggy legs
imprisoned, cannot climb the slippery slope.
Grasped by giant gentle clasp.
No! don’t scramble, wriggle through.
I’m your rescuer, must impound –
soon you’ll float towards the ground,
thrown through window, outward bound –
thread-like legs will slow your fall
tiny bloated body ball –
not a spider after all?
a gangly-leggèd harvestman,
maybe?
Sleepy night-eyes didn’t see.
[IP: simplicity, but don’t use the word or words from its lexical group (e.g. simple, simpler, simpleton etc .]
Maybe this has nothing to do with that suggestion, but the simplicity of the incident struck me, and I often do try to write up briefly and simply!

I always feel they need a leg
I always feel they need a leg up to escape the slippery slope. But which leg? So many to choose from.
And I always sing Born Free as I release them and other insects, arachnids and arthropods back into the wild.
It's nice when people care.

"..a gangly-leggèd harvestman,

I hope not! Aren't they huge things? Deftly done and a lot of drama packed into that vignette, Rhiannon. Enjoyed. Paul
