A monkey nut drama

The squirrels were busy
kept coming to bury
monkey nuts found far away.
A bird table’s wealth
embezzled with stealth?
the drama was watched day by day.
But then came a jay
and spied where one lay
and grabbed it, with speed flew away.
The squirrel came back
and stopped on its track
and blankly looked down at its lack …
The watchers looked on
saw monkey nuts come,
but often and soon they were gone …
An urban green corridor
of gardens, with fauna
enacting a monkey-nut saga.

Hi
Hi
It is always nice when the birds out do the squirrels. This was fun to read.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
loved reading this poem as we have four squirrels that come and eat from the bird feeders. They are such amusing creatures and I could watch them for hours with their antics.
You captured an enjoyable scene.
Hope you have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Jenny.
