A Fright for Seven Knights
By shades
- 1039 reads
On the seventh day of spring from all corners of this land,
Seven knights arrived to fight for the fairest maidens hand.
The maiden sat upon a hill, the atmosphere was tense,
On the raising of my arm she said the battle shall commence.
Before she had the chance to raise her hand in their direction,
The bravest knight stepped forward to pose an awkward question.
As spokesman for the union ma’am I feel it is my duty,
To inform you that we have the right to appreciate your beauty.
It’s written here in black and white and is part of common law.
A knight may set his eyes upon the prize he’s fighting for.
The maiden stood and raised her veil, and now, she said, begin.
She looked cross-eyed at the handsome knights, and gave a toothless grin.
The bravest knight stood wide-eyed and whispered, listen brothers,
If she’s the fairest in the land I’d hate to see the others.
The knights agreed and on their steeds they kicked their heels and fled.
Back to town for a hearty meal and a few cold beers instead.
