Scary Dave

I live at number twenty-two,
At the top of Peppermint Road,
John the lizard’s three doors down,
Next door lives Colin the toad
Behind that door at twenty-four.
Lives a lion called Scary Dave,
He struts and roars and knocks on doors,
He’s big and bold and brave.
Just yesterday old Scary Dave,
Was roaring half the night,
I quickly turned the TV off,
And ran upstairs in fright.
He knocked on John the lizard’s door,
And then he bashed on mine,
He shouted through my letterbox,
And made my doorbell chime.
I know you’re in there Arnold,
He whispered at my door,
I darted underneath my bed,
And laid there on the floor.
Please come down I heard him say,
I’d really like to eat you,
Slip of the tongue he laughed, what fun,
I mean I’d like to meet you!
It’s no surprise I closed my eyes,
And hid under my pillow,
Cause Scary Dave’s a hairy lion,
And I’m an armadillo.
