Girl at the Piano

In the shifting,
shuttered light
of a dancing,
dappled shade,
each afternoon
I’d watch her
from my window –
the girl across the street
who played piano.
Muslin drapes
shimmied
with the breeze;
her silhouette
as if glimpsed
through a peignoir
of gathering
silver mist.
Music of the spheres –
sotto voce
like the stutter
of a moth’s wings...
arpeggios
of waves
breaking on the shore,
in her touch...
in her rise and fall;
a hint
of a song
settling soft
upon my shoulders
like a whisper
of a satin,
Paisley shawl.

Hello Tina, Just seen this
Hello Tina,
Just seen this one. It is truly a beautiful poem although I don't think I completely understand it. At least not as much as I want to but oh, how I loved
'In the shifting,
shuttered light
of a dancing,
dappled shade,'
For once I can sense the rhythm of such a wonderful collection of words and the images they create.
Lovely,
Moya

You managed to bring in some

You managed to bring in some wonderful images to
this poem. When music is played so well, it touches
the listener to the point of an overwhelming feeling
to cry tears of emotion. That was the one thing I
took from reading this piece. Also a warmth of seductive pleasure, a burning desire for more and
more.
Hope you didn't mind my images. It was so beautifully
written, as only you can do Tina.
Thanks.
Jenny.
