Nothing but Pearls

By Silver Spun Sand

You would ask me
come swim with you
where dragonflies linger...
like they did, long ago,
in those black and white
French movies.
After – you and I,
we would lie
amongst the fern-fronds –
slumber long and deep,
and dream of nothing
much at all...your legs
stretched out...soft
and sweet
your arms, pendulous
above your head,
like branches
of the willow
heavy with a fall
of springtime snow...
mushrooms of the forest
at your feet
while larks would teeter
on the brink of the ladder
of their song and sing
all the colours
of the trees,
and you would stir
in your sleep -
finger a necklace
as it nestles
at your breasts...
naked you’d be...
except for the pearls;
such are our days.
Each one another world;
perfect
and complete.
