I don’t kid myself
the world will stop
because you’re not here;
trees will still give up
their leaves in winter.
Rain will ever fatten
the pumpkins,
and spiders, spin
their silken sacs
on garden spades.
And yet, as I gaze
at the moon
with its entourage
of a symphony
of stars...
I am filled
with an emptiness
so immense
I dream of being
where you are...
It feels like heaven
smells...
like the blues.

Hello Silver... This is a gem indeed! I love the subtlety of it, the length of the poem works well to expound its sensense of tragedy. As for the last line, rarely is someone blessed with the ability to bring things to a close with such a perfect cadence. Well done :)

I think the word "subtlety" is a very appropriate description of the way you manage to keep far away from hysteria- but the blues you have are nonetheless saddening and I'm so glad you are able to express it so well that we readers are enrichened with your talent.
I wish you a happy day and week Tina.

I could understand the feelings in this poem so well Tina, yes life seems to go on and time does not wait, for as we get older and have seen the many changing seasons and felt the happy times and the sad times, continue to fall upon us all and as we get older and wiser, we can ponder on the many moments in our life, the loss of loved ones and the chain of events, that have led us to where we are now.
Sorry if I'm rambling, I just found this poem so
profound, poignant and beautiful, so many feelings
wrapped up as one.
Great read.
Jenny.
