AN IDYLLIC AFTERNOON

As I stand staring at the blank canvas
colours running through my mind,
I step back trying to imagine a scene,
walking slowly forward it comes to me!
a Chateau in France, a beautiful Castle.
In the background a bright clear blue sky,
leading down to a plantation of trailing
woody stemmed grapevines,
that have been kissed by the sun,
In the foreground a fairy-tale castle
in the style of Claude Monet.
Steps lead up to the Courtyard,
where the sweet smelling fragrance of
blue verbena and purple lavender, is
carried on the gentle breeze
filling the air, setting the scene.
From a veranda a family of twelve sit
happily surveying their vineyard,
around a square wooden table,
laden with food, salad, cheese, charcuterie
and french stick with a bottle of their
own Chardonnay.
Setting the scene for an idyllic afternoon.
