August finally
closes door
spindly legs
crawl across floor,
with no camouflage
to cover his tracks
this waste ground
full of dangerous threats,
as sun casts light
on window near,
weaving rays
on fine gossamer,
then beady eyes gaze
desire's lingering,
chance to procreate
his life declining,
no plan of action
hanging in space,
September's arrival
searching for a mate.

Lovely to watch spiders, and
Lovely to watch spiders, and their beautiful, skilful webs! We see them so much more at this time of year don't we, and dew on the webs. Can make a lot of work clearing in the home though - I don't notice them, but my husband walks into the webs as he's taller! Rhiannon
