Waiting For Beauty To Arrive

Beauty's not waiting to go under anesthetic
being a slave to needle or knife,
making drastic changes to your body
sometimes leads to strife,
learn to accept all imperfections
whatever they may be,
giving a unique character
for all the world to see.
Beauty's an inner glow
waiting to escape,
an invisible message
that dwells within,
waiting for warmth
and tenderness that's
captured in a smile,
or that caring gesturing,
beauty's like flower buds
waiting to unfold,
sharing with the world
such colorful blooms;
even though their life
maybe short lived,
the impact stays with us
in paintings, photos or a poem.
Beauty's in us all
if we should care to take a look,
there's no need for waiting
it's captured in your soul.
But then this is just my opinion
others might disagree,
that waiting for beauty to arrive
is only done through surgery.

The inward character, and
The inward character, and love, interest, caring for others being real, aswell as joy and peace, is not only more lasting, but is a much more complete beauty than attending to some aspect of one's features! Rhiannon

the beauty is in the eye of
the beauty is in the eye of the beholder argument may take a lifetime or two, by then imperfections may come in the wrong shoe.

You get to the point here,
You get to the point here, Jenny. I do not understand why people undergo cosmetic surgery. Surgery always carries a risk and a lot of cosmetic practitioners are botch-up merchants. Far better the natural beauty of the inner glow and the warmth of happiness.

Indeed...
Still, we buy the clothes that 'suit us' / 'flatter us', we second guess ourselves at comments and remarks passed, a little voice of doubt wanders past unexpectedly and it's a reroute to get back on track to believing, every day... maybe it gets easier with age... maybe age takes away beauty that was and acceptance is settled on the compulsory downhill run... maybe it is all perception gifted to us from those that came before us... maybe...
Thanks for sharing the beauty of your poetry :)

My partner encourages me to
My partner encourages me to wear baggy old clothes for comfort when I am at his house although if I do wear something different he makes favourable comments. I hardly ever wear make-up but I did indulge in some fancy French perfume in the January sales.
It's all such a double standard. He says there are times when he would like to wear bright colours and make-up but as a senior citizen in a small town he may get adverse attention. He sometimes gets me to paint one of his fingernails
