I’m on my way,
I don’t know where I’m going
What’s the use in even knowing?
Thinking about it will only delay.
I’ll know when I get there
To me that sounds fair
I’m leavin’ the schoolyard
Boy this is hard.
I’m hittin’ the road
Following the code
Face oncoming traffic
And stick to the side.
I’m following signs
I’m hitchin’ a ride,
The people say "where?"
I say I don’t care.
They drive me some distance
And then they stop
I get out of the door
And say thanks, but no more.
I come up to a town
People think I’m a clown.
No room at the inn
So I carry on through.
I sleep that night in a dirty old barn,
On some dirty old hay by a dirty old farm.
In the morning I get going,
Wasting time would just be slowing.
Now I’m back on the road
As I follow my dream
Few people seem to know what I mean.
So I carry on onwards
Not a care in the world
No-one knows who I am
Or where I’m going.
Sure people stare,
But no-one cares.
