"These pests.." called a young, male voice from outside, not hiding any disgust.
Booming like thunder, the edifice's entrance swung open, smiting a shadow creature behind it. Sunlight burst through the opening, instantly melting away two more, causing the rest to retreat from the blazing rays just as their comrades were consumed by ravenous red flames. Reduced to undignified piles of black dust and ashes, they hadn't enough time to even shriek before Death's final call.
Mjoln's breathing grew increasingly difficult. Body and soul aware of a presence he couldn't fathom. His hairs stood on end, every sensation of touch grew into incessant electric bolts biting through his flesh, sending shock and utter disbelief to his mind.
His thoughts halted, save the memory fragments of an age old legend.
No, more than legends, taken straight from the third book of visions.
Bits of texts that foretold the coming of Divine intervention, but left the one charged to carry out these tasks, shrouded in mystery.
He wanted to look around earlier for anyone else sensing what he did, but even as the impulse returned, none of his body parts moved as commanded. He sensed the smothering presence, like an ocean of a thick, blue liquid swallowing him, with no surface to break through for a precious drink of air.
Dangling about in the twilight of consciousness, the scene slipped from his grasp before the mysterious being entered the building.
The peaceful caressing touch of a surreal, blue ocean of radiance summoned his consciousness back from the blackness.
Bitter and anxious disbelief stained his awe at the sight, or perhaps the single animated thought, running circles within his skull, I'm lost..
The infinite glow, as if the very paint on the Creator's brush, that numinous blue, which he hath painted the sky with, remained still. Despite his antics, no wave or ripple came to be in the strange hue.
Was it fluid or light, he could not discern, as it had flooded his being, seeping into every crevice, tangible, but still did not claim his life.
Long seconds passed by before he realized; his overwhelming flood of terror had spawned from the sheer vastness of this place.. This impossible world which replaced his home with such fluid ease, as waking up ended a dream.
What is even real anymore..
Through it all, the sky-blue radiance, he felt that same presence, the same character and wits, that one person. Is this all merely an extension of him?
Before his thoughts were answered, just above him, a pair of focused, soul-piercing eyes formed. The same wondrous blue, with the same sense of infinity to them. He gazed back into the orbs, even as wonder and horror seized him at the same time.
The image slowly cleared, and there, around the eyes formed the hawkish features of a young man. His skin immaculate, held a quality of radiance too.
He can't be older than me..
His golden hair seemed much like the sun at noon on a summer day.
All hallucinations cleared away but moments later, and he found the beautiful, blond hair framed visage gazing down at him with some concern.
"I understand you suffered some torture, and your tongue was removed, just nod your understanding if you can hear and comprehend my words."
Sounded the detached, calm tone sending shivers through Mjoln's body.
Hesitant, he slowly nodded.
"Do you, by any chance know what these fiends were after?"
He gently shook, or rather, rolled his head left to right, as the hard, chill and smooth touch of marble registered under his back and head.
Above the impossibly perfect face, the white ceiling had been dotted red by what could only have been blood.
And below it, three brown robed forms hung out over the room and all those still inside.
Held in place by the spears thrust through their chests.
