A dot in a line
I am

So insignificant
That am disjointed
Faint
Unnoticed
Fading
Devoid of meaning

Struggling to be a line
Full-bodied
With noticeable outline
Defined boundary
Meaning & history

Called for help
Shouted & waved
Jumped up and down
But to no avail
No one noticed

Finally someone heard
Gave me water and bread

This sustenance
Filled my tummy
But was temporary

What I needed
Was not to be fed
But to be given
The means
To feed myself

I say
Don’t give me fish
But teach me
How to catch fish

Can then be productive
Utilise my skills
Realise my potential

I demand
Equity and opportunity
To be able to
Join the dots

And say
Am
A full-fledged
Line not dots

Can now be myself
Assertive and confident
Use my
Skills & talents

Help myself and
Proudly say
Am now
An asset to society
And a
Valuable member
Of my community
