This shimmers Kafka yet it's original, too. Full of metallic-breathed anxiety and wet underarms, of shrinking, the brain pacing out inadequacy, being forced to take up less space in a world of space-abusers and big nosed people that believe,...

Mandy, the mushroom imagery

Posted on Fri, 11 Apr 2014

Mandy, the mushroom imagery and the darkness of the forest grabbed me straight away. I was expecting the spore imagery to spread to Liam somehow - an ex boyfriend of mine reminded me of a mushroom. My only gripe is I wanted more.

An unexpected piece of work, the language is rich and textured, the ending felt washed through and clean despite the carnage. The fragmentation and the flitting pace strengthens her character, it shows how unstable she is. Or perhaps I should...

Hello Elie, your dialogue's

Posted on Tue, 01 Apr 2014

Hello Elie, your dialogue's good and it's a very accessible style of writing. Realise I'm jumping in at 5 but wasn't sure how old they were - obviously at college - but they seemed to speak much older than 17 at times? It may help to clarify age...

'I quite like their strip'

Posted on Mon, 31 Mar 2014

'I quite like their strip' made me laugh.'  He's so likeable despite the question marks that hang over his heid. Your dialogue's as natural as the tea they're drinking. I'm fascinated with how you've drawn this to a close without signing any...

You've given me a tremendous laugh and funny or not, there's a real injection of suffering in there, too. This is fabulous and would love to hear it performed.
