Old Money

A penny for my thoughts,
though they're a tuppenny
-ha'penny business.
Two farthings might buy
a small goat;
in my dreams! I'd be
chuffed to thru'p'nies
if it really did.
A tanner poke'll cost
more than a bob, now.
The pink of a ten-shilling
note in a birthday card
is a distant, if thrilling,
memory.
