One Kiss

You're biting at my back again
Drilling on my mind again
And you wonder why my hand feels dead
You wonder why I now see red
You never call or text me here
You'd hate to kick things up a gear
Yet all I want is the sign
That this time really you'll be mine
You wonder why I fill my mind
With puerile nonsense, infantile
Truth is I'd rather be distracted
Than dwell on how you interacted
Why is it that I can't cope
Why is it that you have to go
Why is it that we're on the phone
And to your voice I can't say no
And if I'm turning into her
It should be me that you prefer
And so I dream, so I pretend
That soon the waiting game will end.
I wonder if I'll lose the fight
And as I sleep I dream at night:
You're whispering right in my ear
And turning, go to wipe my tears
And kiss me.
