My Surrender to the Ocean

I wade through heavy sand,
to get to the waters edge,
I gaze out to the open sea,
& horizon, give up my head.
I throw down the stolen shells,
drop the multi-coloured stones.
The driftwood waves me goodbye.
Reach to the horses of foam,
who lift me above their backs,
in churning under the waves,
I helplessly feel myself relax.
I don't want to worry,
about ever coming back.

i agree with shoe about the ending. the whole piece effectively captures a moment with some good imagery. i especially like: "The driftwood waves me goodbye."
do you use "&" instead of "and" for a particular reason?
