Imaginings
John
Did you ever imagine
How it would be
When Maxwell's silver hammer
Finally struck home?
In those last moments
Before your life ebbed away,
Did you see them
Coming to meet you?
Lucy, floating from the sky
Glittering with diamonds,
Her eyes like glass onions
And Polythene Pam,
Looking like a man -
Did she climb in
Through the bathroom window
To take you to the Octopus's garden
Where Mean Mr Mustard,
The Sun King
Was probably waiting
To grab your money
But not your rubber soul.
Your time's run out now
Once there was a way
To get back home.
Now you are home
And there's no more imagining.
So sleep John, sleep
You've no more weight to carry
For in the end
The love you take
Is equal to
The love you make.
Peace be with you,
Here comes the sun.

Hi Coral,
Hi Coral,
It's hard to imagine what John Lennon might have created in the way of music had he gone on to live. I'm glad that you are remembering his memory, I'm sure he's influenced many generations since his death.
I said it back then and I'll say it again, a lovely tribute to a great writer and musician.
Jenny.
