Highways of Your Mind

I have travelled down the highways of your mind.
I have sought out lonely paths, barely defined.
I discovered many places, rarely seen,
I have been, where very few have ever been.
I have stood at many crossroads, reading signs
and felt the winds of change sigh through your pines.
With place names like, Tomorrow, Sad and Tears;
and one, beneath a Stop sign – Wasted Years!
The road to Hope, seemed full of tangled thorn
and also to the towns, Faith and Reborn.
Serenity’s surrounded by quicksand,
and Tenderness, is in a foreign land.
Confidence, unpopulated dies,
Support and Comfort, overrun by Lies.
Despondency is thriving, as it should;
Supplied so well by Hopelessness, it would!
Standing on the outskirts now, of Fear,
I promise to return; my quest is clear.
I’ll bring the sun, to light the skies above
and rebuild, that ancient city, known as Love.
I’ll clear each ripping briar and stagnant bay
but cities cannot BE built in one day.
Don’t be afraid if sometimes, Smiles, you find;
just me building new highways, in your mind.
