The ship was rolling
on the high seas
a misty dark sky
with clouds wafting by
The waves were calmer
as it came into
the harbour
Jack tar had this girl
With a skirt up to her knees
Her name was Maisie
driving him crazy
his mind going hazy
Down went the whiskey
that made him
feel frisky
an inebriated sailor
Bright and breezy
free and easy
for you know
what sailors are'
Jack had jumped ship AWOL
longing to spend a pee
he put one foot
in front of the other
His body swayed
from left to right
Maisie wanted him to
sing a song
'Sing me a song
to the land I belong
over the sea to Skye'
Maisie said 'do I know that one'
But his drunken slur
Jacks mind a blur
came out
sh -ing me a song
to the the poob
Iv'e now goon
to geet my
bloody steak pie
A fag in my hand a
and a pint
that goes doon
to rumble my tum
The girls I will
give them
a wink from
my eyes
Bloop....snooze
But Maisie
had been on
Cherry! brandies
making her randy
Jack awoke!
Maisie kept saying
"Come and dance
come and dance"
Let's start again
Jack got up half asleep
to do the horn pipe dance
his arms folded
and his knees bent
But Lucy the monkey
was in his kit-bag
poked her head out
for clean fresh air
Jack had to much booze
and first time
went down
like a pack of cards
The mobile went off
with the cherry
wallpaper on
'whose that calling'
In his head
he could hear
the drink' drink' song
memories coming back
But Lucy had jumped
on to his shoulder
and blew the whistle
pulled his lan'yard tight
That went right
up to his neck
like a noose
from having to much booze
Suddenly he keeled over
and dropped dead
Lucy was squealing
after what she had done
Jack lay dead
as a dormouse
Maisie took Lucy home
took down the curtains
So Lucy the monkey
couldn't swing on them
an took her in her bed
Lucy could remember
Jack used to smack her
with a feather duster
Lucy stole his money
not very funny
From out of his pocket
and the silver locket
now Maisie could never say
Let's start again
