A smile as warm
as a mothers hug,
a laugh that made
the corners of your
mouth curl up
all by themselves.
Oh, and the eyes,
so brown you needed
factor thirty to
keep them from
burning a hole
in your soul.
Hair as golden
as the sun on a
July morning in spain.
There were no
wings to prove
she was an angel,
but wings were not
needed, we just knew.
There are some
things that transcend
beauty and she had
them in lorry loads.
So why was she taken
on that wet Sunday morning
Why did the powers that be
decide it was her time.
Why?

With its column-like form this poem leads the reader down from the glorious description of the loved one to the dreadful loss and the final agonising : 'Why?'. An interesting and poignant piece.

Hi jolono, the gift of life

Hi jolono,
the gift of life is a wonderful thing, but when it
is taken, we wonder why.
I think you've captured the feelings so well in this poem. Someone special that meant a lot, the beauty that was that person, their memory will stay with
you for ever, that is a gift too, especially now
it's been written down.
I also liked the way you wrote it in one stanza,
the words seemed to flow so well.
Thanks for sharing this one, because I could relate
to it, having lost so many loved ones myself.
Jenny.

Why indeed, Jolono, When
Why indeed, Jolono,
When there are others, like my friend Terry whose life is a burden.
I tell you mate, I think your poems are really great and you do yourself a disservice when you write disparagingly about them because you write poetry equally as well as you do prose. That's my opinion anyway.
Another good 'un.

This is a great piece of writing because at first I was reading it as a beautiful love poem - which makes the subsequent ending all the more heart-wrenching. Why indeed. Terrific poem.

I know it may be odd, but I thought of Madeleine McCann and her parents... how your poem would touch their hearts too, and any other person who has had someone kidnapped from them... so many levels that pain is shared... wonderful that you have the courage to write about it

- love this image, jolono. A beautiful poem, and alas, that question is rarely, if ever, answered. Well done on the cherries!

After all of your rough and tough, boy's toys stuff, it's nice to see a softer side of you. I've read this before and thought I'd commented on it, beautiful.
