Planet Earth had reached saturation point. With resources fading and an uncaring population growing by leaps and bounds, an alternative habitable planet had to found. At a mere 119 trillion miles from Earth, the Gliese 581 system was chosen.
Aboard the Spaceship Explorer 1, D.O.C, short for Data Operations Center, was monitoring all of the ships systems. Ensuring that it’s 4000 hand-picked passengers, the best and the brightest, the crème de le crème, Planet Earth had to offer, would be alive at the of the 108.72 year trip.
Time passed and soon Gliese 581 g, the agreed upon candidate for habitability, loomed into view. Doc, following instructions programmed 10.87 light years earlier, opened the first 10 of the 4000 sleeping chambers and assumed orbit.
Below them, on 581 g, Third Chancellor Ooze, his .00005-centimeter body aching from the previous night’s revelry, responded to an urgent call from the Ministry of Mold and Mildew. Somewhere above a very large vessel of unknown design, and intent had entered into orbit around the planet. Having no defensive capabilities against something of this size and magnitude he placed a call to the First Chancellor.
Aboard Explorer 1 Captain Marcus turned to the scientist seated at the Science Station.
"Well?"
The man smiled "It's even better than we imagined, just one thing though."
"Care to elaborate?"
"Some kind of fungus, all over the planet’s surface."
"Is it a life form?"
"Not by our definition, no."
"What do you suggest?"
"We can saturate the entire planet’s surface, with Neutron Radiation. It will eradicate the infection within 12 hours and it's perfectly harmless to us"
"You’re sure it’s not a life form?"
"Absolutely."
"Do it."
Planet Reglus had reached saturation point. With resources fading and an uncaring population growing by leaps and bounds, an alternative habitable planet had to found. At a mere 220 trillion miles from Home, The Milky Way system was chosen. The Star ship Exazra was dispatched.
Time passed and soon the Milky Way system, and its candidate for habitability, a bluish, green orb loomed into view. The Exazra assumed orbit.
Below them, General Marcus Gold, Cheyenne Mountain, NORAD responded to an urgent call from the Command and Control Center Somewhere above a very large vessel of unknown design, and intent had entered into orbit around the planet. Having no defensive capabilities against something of this size and magnitude, he placed a call to the President.
Aboard Star ship Exazra, Captain Shaquet turned to the scientist seated at the Science Station.
"Well?"
"It's even better than we imagined, just one thing though."
"Care to elaborate?"
"Some kind of Carbon based infestation, all over the planet’s surface."
"Is it a life form?"
"Not by our definition, no."
"What do you suggest?"
"We can saturate the entire planet’s surface, with Bratec Radiation. It will eradicate the infection, within 20 hours and it's perfectly harmless to us"
"You’re sure it’s not a life form?"
"Absolutely."
"Do it."
