A picture of you.

...since
you left
my portrait of you
remains incomplete
each day and night
I dip into a palette of
ever shifting infinite sky
seeking the colours
that capture your likeness
a breeze brings
mixed media
your skin hammered copper
a soft gold tint
burnished ebony and ivory
windswept hair acrylic red
like a blushing sun
maybe pale yellow chalk of
a shy night moon
autumn eyes pencilled brown
or spring ink blue
your dress
as nature intended
a summer abstract of wild flowers
torn patchwork collage of rich red soil
and endless lush green fields
and
on a silver necklace
hangs a dying star
just like you
a sly nimbus
brings rain
unwanted colour wash
on canvas
diluting your smile
and you I know
lying on a bed of cirrus
look down
laughing...
