Three Sisters
By Richard L. Provencher
- 2918 reads
Susan shuffles from
side to side --
the occupied bed
restrictive after
several weeks usage
tubes in all directions
breathing---pain
and other limitations
making their
presence known
two sisters Bonita
and Patricia -- concerned
loving and awaiting
verbal response --
did the operations work?
will she be
able to speak again?
Susan’s ears hear --
glazed eyes
focus on silhouettes
a tickle forms
inside her mouth
a jumble of words
difficult to form
but she must respond
somehow -- aha
trembles then
sits up looks around
oodles of love for sisters
then roars like a lion.
