I never could stand Christmas.
Tinsel, carols, lights and bells
Everyone pretending to be happy
With the stench of cooking turkey smells
I never could stand Christmas
So called "family" come to stay
Smiling and kissing each other
Secretly hoping they’d all go away.
I never could stand Christmas
Playing games after the blow out lunch
Uncle and Aunties asleep on the sofa
Brothers you’d dearly love to punch.
I never could stand Christmas
Always looking for someone to blame
For the dry, shrivelled up turkey
Then one day along you came.
I never could stand Christmas
But it’s all changed with you somehow
Sitting here with you beside me
I hated this day, well, up until now.
