Anguish (I.P.)

I went to bed early
but for a long time
I could not find sleep.
I kept tossing and turning,
felt cold, then hot,
as if I was burning.
Burning in hell.
I was feverish
and heard wedding bells.
It wasn’t a dream
but a nightmare.
You left me in the lurch
and I was in despair.
Now you’ll leave the church
to attend your reception
and celebrate
with a glass of champagne
filled to the brim,
happily smiling,
married to him.

Luigi, you are on a roll, I feel. The brevity and wordmanship in this one are to be admired. Very much enjoyed.
