A half smile pulls you off balance.
The floor seems to jellify.
Your feet form a v,
your mouth an o
as you turn your
standing to steps.

Delight lights up your eyes
and magnetises. 
Wandering compass. 
One foot before the other one, my son.

I hold back and let you fall
and turn your
safety to sacrifice.

Plump thighs bear up well
and you're back up again.
Unsmiling. Focusing. Experienced.

I move my hand away.
Watch it narrow in your eyes
to a question mark.
To fall or to fly?

With this sacrifice,
one day you'll turn your
steps to strides.
