We called our
little boy Sunshine
it was Sunshine 
all the time
he'd ride in the back
in his toddler seat
not paying us any mind

he'd try hard
to ignore us
we were always trying 
to get him to smile
but he was on to
us right away
acting like he didn't
know how

he'd close his eyes
and smirk 
just a little
tryin' not to laugh
and tryin' not to giggle
so i'd reach back
and make him wiggle
all summer long

so i wrote a little 
sunshine song
and i'm hoping
that you'll sing 
along
i'm hoping that
it makes you 
want to get up
and dance
i'm hoping that 
you'll take that
chance

and if you have 
a ray of sunshine
please make sure that 
you get 'em to smile
they grow up fast
try to make it last
feed 'em sunshine 
all the while

I hope I did well
with all my rhyming
that i didnt
miss a beat
or mess my timing
it sure was nice
to go back and smile on
our boy once again

It's good to hear you capturing the 'getting on the same level' interaction, 'child-to-child' so to speak. Some find that so hard, to let go of 'dignity'  etc! so I hope your bringing the memory to life so vividly, may help others in their relationship with the very young generation. Rhiannon

That's the thing ith nicknames, celtic. Now everytme I hear the word sunshine, I can think of nothing ese, which is fine with me. It's lovely to have this kind of forum to express emotion when I need to. It's a form ofhealing that's been working for me. My wife does her haealing with her art, which is painting. We're fortunate to have these things.
