Your rage slices my heart in two

Leaving one side bleeding into my chest 
It's harder to breath
Crushing pressure sliding up towards my neck
Tingling eyes with tears 
Nothingness worthless human that I am
Submerged in weighted sadness
You promised to love me to care be my friend
You are sorry as always
Predictable pattern when I fall out of line
It was my fault you say 
I should have helped you control 
The evil that's lurking and waiting
For a moment in time to burst forth with frenzied
Explosions of hatred and vileness and rage
orchestra crescendo building to an an erupting finale of hating and hurting and fury
At least the children didn't see this time
Silly daddy I will say

I hope this piece isn't what I think it is.

Abuse and the cover up presented to the children  "...Silly daddy I will say..."

Sadly it is.  A close person to me has escaped domestic violence.  These are fragments of conversations we had many times over many years. One day she did something about it.  Others aren't so lucky.

I'm glad to hear she did something about it in the end. This poem rings very true - all the sad excuses, always the same it seems. Heartbreaking last line.

Thanks insertponceyfrenchnamehere.  These woman are our neighbors our sisters the ones smiling in the playground at school pick up  the happy ones hiding it away hoping it will go away.  Taking the shame that belongs on their partners shoulders.  Only last week at my children's school did I speak to a happy mum asking how are you.  She was wearing sunglasses but the bruises to her temple and black eye were visible.  It is heartbreaking.

'You are sorry as always'. I left 2 relationships when the good times ran out, both times in the early stages of pregnancy. I also volunteered ar the Stirling refuge while expecting my elder daughter. Yes, the 'sorry' can be heartfelt. But it's until the next time.
