Between Heaven and Hell

Mama ain't bridged no gaps
between heaven and hell,
given up the fight,
Papa wounded by butchery
in a bloodstained land;
vowed to locate
some safe haven,
a harbor of protection
though randomly unplanned,
venturing like vagabonds we was;
sucked into a vacuum of despair,
whilst women with swollen bellies
sit and ponder their fate;
now indifferent to male passions
once an aphrodisiac,
captivated no more in this filthy hole,
discouraged by refuge scattered
like leaves on an Autumn day,
tossed in all directions
as we do ponder our fate.

I take it this is meant as
I take it this is meant as the voice of a refugee child in a camp, or scattered from a camp, Jenny.
No easy answer. Maybe the West looked golden, maybe some deliberately painted false pictures of what could be found or taken, without encouraging a realistic awareness of what was going to be involved from the incomers and the receivers …
I think, above all I long for a resolution of conflict, and human kindness in those far off lands they are fleeing, which we can only pray may yet come, and some wisdom how to handle the refugee crisis, with its many ramifications. Rhiannon

Hi Jenny.
The grass always seems greener elsewhere. Sadly it isn't always the case. It's even worse when we fall into despair. A very emotive piece Jenny. I hope this child finds an escape.
Thank you, Weefatfella.

Many are living in heaven on
Many are living in heaven on earth... and most of those at the expense of the masses living in hell on earth...
Excellent write!!

Jenny - you have highlighted,
Jenny - you have highlighted, so eloquently, a number of issues pertaining to life, as it is today...the Zika situation, of course, plus the plight of countless refugees from various troubled regions of our globe, uppermost in our minds at present. A thoughtful poem, with much written between its lines.

Hi Jenny
Hi Jenny
I like the way you shaped this poem, and fit the lines to the subject matter. It is a difficult subject for all sorts of reasons, and no easy answer.
