START ANEW

a forest lives forever
in the hearts of seeds they spread
from embers of the timberland
a host of life is fed
.
the earth adopts the orphans
and their roots go coiling through
the oak gives up its acorns
so that growth can start anew
.
the sun sinks in the shadows
as the moon leaps up to dance
the skirting and the flirting
is the core of their romance
.
the sunbeams chase the moonbeams
when the lunar reign is through
the night gives up its kingdom
so the day can start anew
.
the mind outlasts the body
but quite often in old age
the mind that had developed
will adopt a younger stage
.
the threads become unraveled
till the holes are showing through
the mind gives up its secrets
so the slate can start anew
