Tuesday 25 November
We didn't have any of our usual teachers today.
At form time, there was no Mrs Burns. Instead, there was a tall, glaring woman who told us to come in and sit in silence.
"Miss, where's Mrs Burns?" Laura asked.
The woman closed her eyes and sighed. "Please do not speak unless I ask you to," she said, and didn't bother answering Laura's question. "I am Mrs Pinch, I will be your new form teacher."
"Is Mrs Burns coming back?" Kim asked.
Mrs Pinch closed her eyes at the interruption. "The next person to speak out of turn will get a detention." She opened Mrs Burns' desk drawer, and produced the register. "I will now take the register. No talking, unless it's to answer when I say your name."
After the register was done and put away, Mrs Pinch got out twenty sheets of paper from her bag. "These are your new timetables."
"We already have timetables," Wendy insisted.
Mrs Pinch closed her eyes yet again. "Detention," she snapped. "See me after. No, these are your new timetables, which I will now hand out. It has been brought to attention that you are being taught only five lessons a day, so that has been dealt with."
She started handing out the new timetables. There were groans which were quickly quelled with a look.
I was given mine, and couldn't believe my eyes. From beside me, I heard Wendy mutter: "What?!"
I got out my usual timetable and compared the two.

"You see," Mrs Pinch said, with a slight nasty smirk. "It has been felt that you are not learning enough, having some of your lessons once or twice a week. This way, you get every lesson everyday. Both your breaks have been halved to allow for extra learning. Also, instead of getting homework for each lesson once a week, it will be everyday for each lesson. Also, on Friday afternoons, the whole school will stay behind for an extra hour, where there will be an exam on what you have learnt throughout the week."
A shocked, angry murmur rippled through our classroom.
"Who's decided that then?!" Craig demanded.
"Detention. Come back here at break. Go to the headteacher's office if you have any questions."
"Do you think our parents will stand for this?" Matthew said.
"Detention. Come back here at break. Go to the headteacher's office if you have any questions."
We all sat there in stunned silence. Nobody bothered to say anything.
I am writing this all quickly, before I start my Maths homework. That is why my handwriting is messy and unreadable.
