Yellow for my daughter

I held a buttercup

under your chin

and asked you

the question..

you laughed,

and all around you

behind you above you,

I could see fields

of cowslips, primroses

and more buttercups

sunlight on your hair

your dress shimmering,

and I wanted to write

a poem for you,

about you, and call it -

yellow, yellow

for my daughter
