Jed the Frog and his old Jug band
were the greatest band in all the land.
Upon his banjo he would strum
while an old goat beat on a suitcase drum.

 

The washboard was played by a duck
while a bobcat, a washtub bass, would pluck;
they would make such an amazing sound
other animals would gather round.

 

A chipmunk on a stovepipe blew
while a bear played paper  and comb kazoo;
a little dog would howl and wail
while a rattle snake even shook its tail.

 

A raccoon played a pair of spoons
and, by the bright Kentucky moon,
the animals would all come out
and, to their music, stomp about.
