February, snowdrops hasten the colourful new grass they're gracing.
Janet with the twins on show goes doon the toon to earn some dough.
She saves up twenty every client, to get the gear that makes her pliant,
Singing Choons as home she rushes to take on board medicated flushes.
March arises like an omen, the god of war was something Roman.
The early dawn gets earlier yet, the daffodils bloom, new bread in Pret.
Slush in puddles freezing cankles, muddy hugs that always rankle.
Easter eggs discounted now as farmer Jake begins to plough.
April washes rain on all, the warmth of Summer such long haul
From here. We sing laments of suffering. Ice cream churning, downloads buffering.
My Granny died on April ninth, her ringlets cut by Pale Death's scythe;
Ashes Scattered Saturday. By Sunday morn she'd blown away.
May we dance upon the Green, budding, joyous, sodden, green.
Laughing Children eating buns. Laughing dads, laughing mums
Feeling good and planning trips, teenage dreams of tumbling zips.
Full of life the world's a sparrow, winged and flying free's an arrow.
June is lazy June is fat, I kissed a girl and bought a cat,
The best to scare the mice away, for June's the time we cut first hay.
Lounging pools of warming light, the girl was coy but fresh and bright.
Danny's off to war again, we wave goodbye with roasted hen.
July's pneumonia knocks me down, Mark come back and wear my crown.
Phlegmy globules flying forth from lung to lunch of beefy broth.
Then three full weeks of bed and wheezing, till finally I find it easing.
One week more to watch box sets, then back to work, I've had me rest.
August breaks for one and all, the school is out and out they sprawl.
Flippin' flipflops everywhere. My burning scalp dost miss its hair.
Beeping cars rush right by whilst in the evening's smokey sky,
Holidayers fly to Spain, to drink, then drink... then back again.
September starts, another month. Arguments from pride, and love.
Mould on walls and rough dogs barking. Is this enough? And are you larking?
Call me a cab, I'll pull your leg. I'll pull your leg, no need to beg.
Call me your darling, just call it love. My love. My one. My darling dove.
October brings hot times at last, erasing damp and fights of past.
Smelling of burnt lemons, chalk, cinder. Time to reignite that tinder.
Pizza from ovens wood and smokey, visiting freshers' flats so pokey.
Living the dream in this Indian Summer; one last Hurrah then; enjoy, it's warmer.
November rains and bites so icy. Holes in the roof can't be fixed, too pricey.
Get off the wagon and drink till one's sick, into the fold, with them thick.
Pour us a fat one and roll us two fingers. Left us this life while that one lingers.
Calling a whore what you once loved before.
December comes startled and blistered, check my baubles: everything glistered.
Christmas is coming, I'm back on the streets. Checking the windows for prezzies and treats.
TV talks of family fun, of terrible love welcome each one.
Is Amazon Prime addictive we ask? My giro's come through so I'm up to the task.
