Platform for remembering
By seafret
- 4360 reads
A shade sat down beside me
On the bench, on the platform
Wrapped an arm
Snuggled up
Invited me to lay my head on
Its shadowy shoulder
The scent of hot tulips faded
With the midday sun.
"It's been a while,"
It said.
Incongrous warmth
From its old heart
"How have you been?
I've missed our talks."
"Forgetful of you.
Well.
Settled.
Almost happy."
It drew still closer with breath
I wished was ghoulish
And with fingers I wished were cold
Moved a tendril of hair from my cheek.
"I've missed you.
This is nice."
The station faded to sepia
The faint thrum of my heart down the diminishing track.

Really atmospheric, and leaves a decided feeling of unease. I hope I don't remember this just as I'm dropping off to sleep tonight...
