Miss You

It was Easter on a very hot weekend in 2019.
My partner's pottering around in the greenhouse
tending to his radishes and corn that are looking grand,
On the other hand...I don't feel guilty as I sit in shade
of tall leylandii trees, sun glistening through branches,
tiny flies circling above, darting here and there.
Listen! Only sounds are occasional flapping of
pigeons wings over head, as they swoop down
then rise to meet bluest sky,
these moments of drowsy pleasure, attentive
to birds chirping and buzzing bees, reminding
me of how I miss your company mum.

It's funny how nature can
It's funny how nature can remind us of loved ones when they are no longer there to experience it but just knowing that they did experience those same things can make you feel connected once again. This is very touching, the way you describe the scene and how in that moment it made you miss your mum.
