To A Great Degree

We didn't have a good spring
and it's been a poor summer;
we had wind, rain and floods,
it has been a real bummer.
 
For the French open tennis
In Paris, by the river Seine,
they had a strong breeze
and also considerable rain.
 
But now the temperatures
have risen to a great height
and we find that the heat
is too much, day and night.
 
The mercury hit a new high
yesterday, in Spain, France
and all over Europe. Maybe
we have to do a rain dance.
 
During the summer season
we expect sunny weather
but not too hot otherwise
we would melt altogether.
 
We need a wind of change
to stabilise the world's clime.
If we do not act fairly soon
we might run out of time.

Yes Luigi, you have certainly captured the spirit of not only the IP but a serious issue we must all join together on.  Loved the poem as always.

It seemed obvious that an I.P. about aspects of the weather would include a reference to climate change and its effect on the environment and that was the direction that my poem took.

That's so clever how you use wind of change Luigi, now we must hope it blows through the climate of opinion. All the details you use make your poem sound like the news, it's brilliant

Yes Di, most of the content of the poem was inspired by that day's news. I often use that device for my compositions. It gives me plenty of scope to mix in thoughts and opinions and even go off on a tangent.
