18th June Woods and back

When sun rules the year and all frost's armies
turned to mist long burned up like cold caution
warm calm, balmy days come seeming ceaseless.
Wearing purple, the emperor's colour
even thriving in wood's ditch, campion
glows and herb robert's dainty stitching stems
support petal kisses. Foxgloves tower
with bells appealing to a throng of bees.
Shoulder high grass flowers plume still air till
nettle tips deceiving, curl soft, intense
in afternoon heat. Shade-swallowed then shone
clear burst of amethyst rhododendron
thrilling as a ballgown found in secret.
Homeward bound by walls, ivy leaved toadflax
grows lax and cool from cracks in age smooth stone
before our garden, with buddleia in bud
and sweetrocket pale sprawling with its scent
welcoming guests with solar panel wings

What a lovely picture! what a lovely stroll, noticing, drawing your readers attention in an interesting way to some of the delightful detail to be noticed! Rhiannon
(deceieving needs to drop the second 'e' , and 'rohodoendron' is actually 'rhododendron' – I had to look that up, but knew it did start with an 'rh' like my name! – the description 'thrilling as a ballgown found in secret' was superb! sad that they have to be curbed or take over too much!)

You take the reader with you
You take the reader with you on this woodland walk. I remember when in school we used to go on nature walks and would have to write about what we saw as we rambled. I think this is a perfect poem.
I love the lines: -
Foxgloves tower with bells appealing to a throng of bees.
Always reminds me of those old cottage gardens buzzing with worker bees.
Also: -
Shoulder high grass flowers plume still air till nettle tips deceiving, curl soft, intense in afternoon heat.
What a wonderful sight to behold.
A very dreamy poem indeed. Thank you for sharing.
Jenny.
