I saw you yesterday

On the green

You sat talking easily

Your deep lazy laugh

Carrying over the grass

 

You didn’t mean 

To look up 

And see me.

 

But when you did 

The blue of your eyes

Held reflections

Of her golden hair

 

I dropped my heart 

On the concrete path 

And kicked pieces of it 

All the way home.
