Finding the Castle in the village of Richard's Castle.

Waves of ox-eye daisies shaking in the breeze –
bright big white, and purple vetch, clover red,
red campion and buttercups.
Little old stone church cemetery
up through the new extension, a new gate and
access now to the scattered castle ruins
– narrow mown paths through high nettles
(hold your arms high – difficult for children!)
– a solitary foxglove sentinel,
up the old steps to the top of the ruined keep
everything clothed in lush growth, ruins just peeping
– look far, look wide, high trees nearby,
and over the countryside to the hills.

off to google Richard Castle now - I love the way they mow little paths through wild areas now - so much nicer than just blasting it all away

So glad to see you have escaped the house to write this detailed account, I feel I have been there. It sounds wonderful with all the flowers, and I liked the foxglove sentinel, you pick up everything important. I do hope your health continues to improve, Rhiannon xx

What an interesting place you describe in this poem Rhiannon. It sounds like such a peaceful trip out and a wonderful location to explore.
