Daydreamer

Sitting doodling spirals and gazing up at the sky
looking for inspiration, I saw a sparrow hawk
fly overhead which inspired this poem.
Speak to me quietly as I gaze from paper to sky,
becoming part of a yawning cloud; whose serene
escape captures sun now cloistered,
gently shield my eyes as sparrow hawk shares in
this flight of fancy, circling then soaring while
my pen swirls...anxiously awaiting me to create,
gathering up familiar verses; maybe a melody
emanates back at me, drawing past memories,
garland of brief musings trickle above my now
squinting eyes; like cool shower influencing
my visions.
Imagination packed away ready to embark on an
adventure, flying undetected; to journey beyond my
surroundings; maybe seeking out some satiny haze
that greets a dawn lake, where ghostly mist hides
ripples – could it be those surfacing fish are thirsting
to observe gentle merging of islands in the sky like me?
I could dream all day growing a sense of who I am,
encouraged by each moment enhanced; conveyed
like trailing, ethereal shadows floating across
secluded hushed water, my pen delivering required
images, sentient awareness so important in my
desired ramblings.

I think we should all look up
I think we should all look up more and let our thoughts drift. We might even write a poem! This lovely poem is Pick of the Day. Do share it with others if you can. Jenny - the painting of a sparrowhawk is from here. I hope it's ok. It's from here: https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wilhelm_von_Wright_-_Eurasian_...

No better way to gain inspiration and you are really inspired, dear Jenny, to be able to write beautiful poetry so consistently. but you don't need me to tell you that, the golden cherries speak for themselves. Very well done.

Hi Jenny
Hi Jenny
What a beautiful poem. The meter you used seems to imitate the flight and swoop of the bird. Very cleverly done.

There's a line from you/your pen to the sparrow hawk, like a kite on the end of a piece of string. Keeps you looking up. Lovely poem.
