Red and black. Polka dots.
Carapace. Hard.
Why so pretty?
Brave. Predatorless.
Male and female, twins
(need a magnifying glass to tell them apart).
Whisper to me, sotto voce.
Tickle my fingertip with good luck.
Without camouflage, so flambouyant,
brave you, fly away now

orange with black dots!
I remember the first time I saw a ladybird as a small child it was exactly as you describe here, and "brave you, fly away ... Yes not so sure but, a ladybird meant good luck. Good idea, an ode to such a simple and ordinary pretty thing!
Good writing, refreshing, look forward to reading more of your work Tanya!
