Here Is the News

Early morning. On T.V.
there are shocking scenes
that everyone can see
of the latest disaster
explained at length
by a skilled broadcaster.
Dark clouds are gathering
on New Orleans, Louisiana,
while people are blathering
about high global warming.
Yet nothing is being done
despite desperate warnings.
They are some of the news
that our television stations
have decided to diffuse
being of national interest.
The regional channels
will take care of the rest.
In our area for example
coverage of achievements
in local sport is ample.
If our athletes shine
the reporters will say that
our fans are on cloud nine.
If it is fake news we watch
do we swallow the untruth
or are we prepared to scotch
the rumours out of hand?
If we believe all we are told,
we live in cloud cuckoo-land.

I agree, Luigi, and cannot understand. As when the latest IPCC report came out, and everyone was saying "We have to do something NOW!" then the next day they were all going on about Prince Andrew. Something is clouding judgement!
